Why we built Unsourced.app
AI assistants are now a primary way people discover information. ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini collectively handle hundreds of millions of queries every day — and they answer many of them by drawing on content published across the web.
For publishers, this creates a new competitive landscape that is almost entirely opaque. Which AI assistants mention your site? Which competitors are recommended instead of you? Which of your articles generate citations and which are completely ignored? Until now, there was no reliable way to answer any of those questions.
Unsourced was built to close that gap: see which AI assistants mention your site, which competitors they recommend instead, and where the gaps are — week by week. And because we watch the crawl on your own server and the citation in the answer, we can cross-reference the two — proof of what the AI actually read and reproduced that exists nowhere else.
What the platform does
AI Crawler Monitoring
Identifies AI bots visiting your site by name — GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and more — from your server logs, a Cloudflare Worker, the WordPress plugin, or a server-side snippet (Vercel, Netlify, Node). AI crawlers don’t run JavaScript, so server-side capture is what actually catches them.
Origin Signal
Tells you whether a citation came from an AI that visited your site live, or from its training data. Both are recorded in your Evidence Report.
AI Visibility Intelligence
Runs weekly citation checks across seven AI models, tracks competitor domains that appear in AI responses instead of yours, and monitors your position over time.
Reports
Generates structured PDF reports in two formats: an AI Visibility Audit for content and SEO strategy, and an Evidence Report structured for licensing discussions or formal complaint — with bot logs, citation excerpts, and timestamped live-crawl records.

Data, privacy and transparency
Unsourced is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data controller (registration number: ZC150902) and operates under UK GDPR. Your account and monitoring data are stored on servers in the European Economic Area (Hetzner, Germany). To check whether AI assistants cite your content, we send generated questions to third-party AI providers — some based outside the UK/EEA — under Standard Contractual Clauses. We never sell or share your data, and we do not use it to train AI models. Our full sub-processor list is in our Privacy Policy.
The evidence collected by Unsourced — bot activity logs, citation check results, and generated reports — is provided as structured data for informational purposes. It is intended to support review, complaint, licensing discussion or legal escalation where appropriate. Unsourced does not provide legal advice, and no output from the platform should be construed as a legal determination.
